Little Hollywood Shootout Kicks Off March 16, 2016 at High Noon in Kanab

KANAB, Utah – The unmistakable landscape found in the Kanab area has made this part of southern Utah a favorite destination for filmmakers since the 1920’s. In line with this great filmmaking tradition, the 6th annual “Little Hollywood Shootout,” kicks off at the historic Parry Lodge in Kanab, Utah on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. The “shootout” is a quick-turnaround film challenge requiring filmmakers to produce a short film with Kanab area locations as the backdrop. At high noon on March 16, film production requirements including locations and a theme will be revealed to participants. Competitors will then have 49.5 hours to write, direct, edit, and complete a five-minute film. Little Hollywood Writers Competition

Little Hollywood Writers Competition

Over these last months since the conclusion of the Little Hollywood Shootout, we hosted a writing competition, sponsored by IAPFilms and Kanab Creek Journals. The purpose of the competition was two fold. First, to keep the fire burning for Little Hollywood, but also to find a screenwriter for a feature film to be produced by the competition’s sponsors. There were a lot of great entree’s and it was extremely difficult to whittle it down, with the production team falling in love with different scripts for different reasons. After a lot of discussion and getting on the same page regarding what they were looking for it was finally narrowed down to three and then finally one.   “It was a difficult choice because we had a number of really great entry’s. We would have done well with any of the finalists.” –Roger Blomquist Ph.D, Producer IAPFilms     With much excitement, Adam Mast was chosen as winner and as such will be the writer for an upcoming feature film. Adam was also writer for winning team that took home best film in this years Shootout for their entry, “The Wild Mis-Adventures of Jesse James and Billy the Kid”, which can be seen “HERE“! It is exciting to see films getting made and talented artisans finding opportunities though events like this. Not only does the Little Hollywood events provide an outlet for creation, but the networking it provides is an important resource for up and coming film makers. Adam will begin writing immediately and if you would like to stay updated on the progress of the film, follow IAPFilms on their facebook and...
