2nd Annual “Little Hollywood Shootout” Winners Announced at Film Screening The “Little Hollywood Shootout” quick turnaround film production competition concluded March 16, with more than 60 competitors vying for cash, prizes, trophies, and bragging rights as the top filmmakers in Kanab and Kane County. The “shootout,” organized by the Center for Education, Business, and the Arts (CEBA) hosted a special screening of the submitted “shootout” films at Kanab High School on Saturday, March 17, showcasing the aspiring filmmakers work to the community. After screening the films, audience members voted for their favorite film with the “Audience Choice” award which went to 11 year old filmmaker and St. George student Trevor Black, the youngest participant of the competition with his film “Small Sensibilities.” “We appreciate all of the filmmakers’ efforts and recognize the extraordinary challenge it takes to make a production in such a short amount of time. All of the teams did a remarkable job and we were pleased with the results” said Kelly Stowell, CEBA Executive Director. Stowell also remarked, “the creativity and participation of so many filmmakers from across Utah was delightful and congratulations to all the filmmakers for their achievements. We appreciate our shootout sponsors and look forward to next year’s competition.” The winning film in the 2012 “shootout” went to filmmakers Sheldon Demke and Shaun Labrecque, for their film “Noose.” Second place went to Salt Lake Art Institute team Young Guns, and director Marshall Biesinger, for their film “Impact.” The film “Kalamity Kane” directed by Anna Lensch from Dancing Bean Productions tied for 3rd place with Seaich Productions film “Bloodshot,” directed by Jared Seaich.
