New for 2013!

New for 2013!

We are getting excited for March 13th and have some new information about the shootout to pass along. First, we have updated our rules page. A few things have changed this year, so head on over to the rules page after reading this post to make sure you are in compliance. No matter how brilliant your film might be, not adhering to the rules will lessen your chances of winning. There are a couple of things to note in this years event. It is no longer a 49.5 hour competition. In order to give filmmakers a chance to create the best film possible, the time has been extended. Now, each teams energy, while in Kane County, can now be spent with more focus on production. It’s our hope to provide participants greater opportunity to capture the awe inspiring scenery and landscapes found in Kane County. Additionally, editing time has been extended to allow film makers a chance to do what they do best. Make great films. Participants must be present on March 13, to enter the contest and most of the filming must take place in Kane County at revealed locations. Editing and post production can take place in the participants desired location. Film submission deadlines are due on April 3, and can be submitted either in person or online. There will be a public screening of all the submitted films and following the film screenings the winners in each categories will be announced. All participants are strongly encouraged to attend the screening.  ...

According to ITU (The International Telecommunications Union) the H.265 codec could pave the way for the “next wave of innovation,” such as faster movie downloads and higher quality video streaming. For more info and detail on the codec, NoFilmSchool has a detailed article that is worth a read. Technincal advancemnets such as this are exciting to organizations like us who are fostering the independent filmmaker movement. As technology continues to advance and more and more tools for filmmakers fall within grasp, we will have more filmmakers who can not only tell their stories, but be able to find an audience to share their stories...
