It is that time of the year when we start looking forward to Southern Utah’s premiere film making event. We are excited to announce the dates for the 2015 Little Hollywood Shootout will be March 11-14 2015. More info will be coming shortly, but until then, mark your calenders, start honing your skills and brush up on your equipment and storytelling skills, because the Little Hollywood Shootout is on....

And the winner is…

The 2014 Little Hollywood Shootout wraps up as a resounding success. Not only were there more entrants than ever, but the quality of films has never been better and the judging has never been harder. But in the end “The Misadventures of Jesse James and Billy the Kid” directed by Shaun Labreque , took home the coveted prize of $1000 for first place in the Indy Pro (advanced) division and “Broken Leash” by Nathan Forbush took first place in the Excel (amateur) division. And though this is how the chips fell, we were really proud of all the films submitted to the 2014 Little Hollywood Shoout. Countdown to Little Hollywood

We are less than a week away from the 2014 Little Hollywood Shootout and plans are coming together. We are seeing a number of teams registering and look forward to more. As you prepare to come down we have some info to help you’re stay be more comfortable.  View or download the Little Hollywood Call Sheet and have key information about Kanab and the event, close at hand. There are a hand full of wonderful motels in the area. To see a full listing click  >HERE<. The Kane County resource guide is also a great resource for info on local business where you can get supplies. View it >HERE<. Also… Warning, Warning … be aware if you are traveling from the north via HWY 89 to Kanab, the road will be completely closed for 3 hours starting at 8:30 am until 11:30 am. No one can go north from Kanab and no one can get through from the north of kanab on 89. This is the case all week. If you’re planning to shoot North of Kanab, plan on shooting after lunch. We will be kicking things off at the Historic Parry’s Lodge and the times we’ve previously posted may have seemed inconsistent but here we’ll make sense of it all. Registration and Checkin will start at 7AM. At 7:30AM we will begin our orientation and the at 8AM teams will be on their way, having 52 hours to complete their film. At the end of the 52 hours teams will need to submit their films in person on disk or flash drive, or teams can upload it to a drop...

The Little Hollywood Shoot Out is excited to announce that Warren Workman will be joining us for this years Little Hollywood Shoot Out. Not only will he be one of our guest judges, but he will also be presenting as part of our Little Hollywood Education Series. Join us in welcoming Warren to the Little Hollywood Shoot Out and gain some valuable insights from Utah’s film making insider. Warren Workman knows film making in Utah. Workman is the marketing director at Arrowstorm Entertainment, creator of “Utah’s Oscars” the Filmed in Utah Awards (March 29th at The Grand Theater), a film instructor at Salt Lake Community College and segment producer of the KJZZ Movie Show. Over the past 4 years Workman has been visiting film sets, interviewing film makers, promoting films in Utah through his show Film Buzz. Some of the local filmmakers he has interviewed over the years including T.C. Christensen (Ephraims Resuce, 17 Miracles) Ryan Little (Saints and Soldiers) and Garrett Batty (The Saratov Approach). He has also interviewed famous celebrities such as William H Macy (Fargo, Wild Hogs) Sean Astin (Rudy, Goonies) Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, Andromeda) and Danny Trejo (Machete, Spy Kids) just to name a few. The Little Hollywood Shoot Out has been an exiting event for the past four years and this year we are growing. To up the ante, we have invited several industry veterans to come share their wealth of film making knowledge. Through lectures and workshops, you will gain valuable tips, tricks and insights. Introducing the Little Hollywood Film Education Series! And to kick off this years education series we are  excited to announce Robert Trim will be joining us for this years event and will provide a wealth of knowledge in two presentations, the first of which will be focused on Scene Blocking and the second will cover The Six Mistakes of Beginners. Robert Trim is an Assoc. Professor at Utah Valley University, specializing in Digital Media focuses of Cinematography, Production and Digital Asset Management. Robert has been in every aspect of the media industry including; regional and national commercial production, independent and studio film production, NEWS investigative series producer, education and corporate media productions. Over the decades, he has won 11 Emmys and several regional and national awards. Robert just released the first book of its kind, focusing on the on-set position of Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) to support the teaching of digital asset management course. This core course to all things digital, isn’t offered anywhere at the university level until now. Robert also sets on the board for the Motion Picture Association of Utah, co-ordinating internships and educational opportunities for budding filmmakers. Please join us for this years event.
